UML & SysML for MS Visio
Hello, dear friends! I was very pleased about our trip to SF and Stanford!!! Now when my jet lag is attacking me like a rattlesnake, Google becomes my guard to not fall a sleep again. I found this link and have tested some symbols and diagrams. http://softwarestencils.com/ It works OK! I have Visio 2003 and both SysML & UML is working if you follow the instructions on the download page. This is how it looks like if you install the package.

Discussion
Please be aware the Visio is not a modeling package! All it does is allow you to draw the symbols, it does no keep track of the integrity of the model or allow any form of model validation. It will suffice for graphic communication but for more structured modeling Enterprise Architect or Magicdraw are the better choices.
Do Enterprise Architect and Magicdraw require licenses or are they free? How is yED in comparison with Visio, Enterprise Architect and Magicdraw? Would be good for the Luleå part with a free software package to handle UML/SysML.
EA has a student/university deal that is pretty good & MD has a Community Edition that is free but I don't know the limitations of this. yEd is much like Visio in that it draws pictures of models but it does in my mind work better as a sketching tool as it is faster and has a lot of nice automatic layout algorithms built in and imports SVG and exports to SWF. Plus it is freeware
It does on the other hand not directly have all the UML and SysML symbols built in.
So which program do you suggest for the Luleå part? Are there other freeware that have capabilities similar to EA and MD? I think a freeware software would be preferable.
